PPN World aggregates press releases that issuers publish openly on standard newswires and official newsrooms — more than 400 public RSS/Atom feeds from over 80 sources, including PR Newswire, Business Wire, GlobeNewswire and government and institutional wires. This page explains what we index and display, the legal framework we rely on, and the takedown procedure available to issuers and wire operators. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
1. What we index and how much we display
For every release we index the title, the short description or excerpt from the feed, the canonical URL, the issuing wire, the publication date, the language, the geographic dateline, and derived metadata (topics, tickers, entities, press contacts). How much of the body we display depends on the source's licence posture: - Snippet posture — for the major commercial distributors (PR Newswire, Business Wire, GlobeNewswire, EIN Presswire, PRWeb, CNW Telbec, PR TIMES, Mynewsdesk and others) and for copyrighted institutional newsrooms, we display the headline and the short feed excerpt with a prominent link to the original page, and we do not display the release body. - Full-text posture — for public-domain, open-licence and license-clean official sources (for example government wires) and regional wires whose terms permit it, the reader view may show the fuller extracted text, always with source attribution and the original link. Enforcement is technical: the posture is applied at the single extraction chokepoint, so a snippet-posture source cannot have its body displayed anywhere in the product.
Our public SEO pages republish only headlines, short excerpts and metadata with attribution and links — never full bodies of commercial wire content.
2. Legal framework
Press releases are published for the express purpose of media pickup. Our indexing and display practices rest on fair dealing for news reporting (Canada), fair use (United States), and the quotation and press-related exceptions of EU law including Directive 2019/790 — always with systematic attribution and a link to the original. We respect feed publication standards and cache headers (conditional fetches with ETag / Last-Modified), and we stop fetching any source on request. Our fetcher identifies itself as PPNWorldBot to every origin that accepts automated feed readers; a small number of origins block all automated readers indiscriminately, and for those we retrieve their public RSS feeds with a standard browser identity. Where a source's terms require snippet-only treatment, that is what the product enforces.
3. Attribution
Every feed entry shows the issuing wire's name, the publication date, the dateline country and a direct link to the original release page. Content remains the intellectual property of its issuer and distributor at all times; nothing in the Service transfers any right in it to us or to our users beyond the applicable copyright exceptions.
4. Press contacts inside releases
Contact blocks published inside releases (name, role, organization, work email, work phone) feed our press-contact directory. That processing of personal information has its own dedicated document — the Journalist & Press Contact Privacy Notice — including a simple correction and removal procedure for the individuals concerned.
5. Takedown procedure
If you are the issuer of a release (or its authorized representative) and want its reference removed from PPN World, email ppnw@ppnsource.com with: the link to the release as it appears on PPN World or on the original wire, your role (issuer's PR or legal team), and the reason for the request. We process valid requests within 5 business days and confirm the outcome. Requests made on behalf of a third party (law firms, agencies) must include proof of authority. Removal from PPN World does not remove the release from the originating wire — only its distributor can do that.
6. Wire operators
Each wire has its own redistribution terms, and we aim to respect them source by source — that is exactly what the posture system exists for. If you operate a wire and have questions about our fetcher, want your source moved to snippet posture, want it removed entirely, or want to discuss a licence for fuller display, contact ppnw@ppnsource.com; we respond within 5 business days.
