Colonel Retires After 27 Years of Making His Mark on History – And Having Fun
Col. Tim Newman of Fisher, Ill., retired from the Illinois Army National Guard after 27 years of “standing the watch.” Family, friends and fellow service members celebrated nearly three decades in uniform during an Oct. 10 retirement ceremony at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Library. “I now look back and can’t believe everything that I’ve accomplished in the military and seeing how I was a part of something much bigger than myself,” said Newman to family and friends who traveled from as far away as North Carolina, Georgia, Minnesota, and Texas to attend the ceremony. “I would have never imagined everything that I’ve done, places I’ve been, and the amazing people I’ve met who I now call my brothers and sisters.”
