Helsinki explores most effective ways to increase use of friction tyres
In order to combat street dust, it is important to reduce the use of studded tyres. Helsinki has been able to gradually increase the share of friction tyres through communications and a localised pilot ban on studded tyres. In other Nordic countries, the most effective measures have been proven to be studded tyre fees and bans. However, current Finnish legislation does not allow for the collection of such fees.
