Στρατηγικός στόχος της Κυβέρνησης είναι η Θεσσαλονίκη να γίνει κόμβος εκπαίδευσης, έρευνας και καινοτομίας «Εξαντλούμε κάθε δυνατότητα που διαθέτουμε για τη στήριξη των νοικοκυριών και των επιχειρήσεων. Το είδαμε πριν από λίγες ημέρες στα μέτρα για την επιδότηση στο πετρέλαιο κίνησης και θέρμανσης. Μέτρα που θ΄ανακοινώνονται κάθε 15νθήμερο ανταποκρινόμενοι στις πραγματικές ανάγκες, σε σχέση με τις τιμές και του πετρελαίου αλλά και των προϊόντων. Μέτρα που δείχνουν το μέλημα αλλά και την αγωνία μας να δίνουμε ανάσες στην ελληνική κοινωνία και ιδιαίτερα σε ευάλωτες ομάδες συμπολιτών μας», τόνισε ο Υφυπουργός Ανάπτυξης Σταύρος Καλαφάτης σε συνέντευξη στη Δημοτική Τηλεόραση Θεσσαλονίκης και στην εκπομπή «Περιπλανήσεις» με τον δημοσιογράφο Νίκο Οικονόμου. Και πρόσθεσε: «Δεν υπάρχουν λεφτόδεντρα. Και αυτό το κάνουμε καθαρό -ιδιαίτερα στα κόμματα της αντιπολίτευσης- που πολλές φορές ανέξοδα -σαν να κινούνται σε άλλη εποχή- θέλουν να φανούν αρεστοί στους πολίτες. Δεν θα τους ακολουθήσουμε. Εμείς θα συνεχίσουμε την πολιτική της αύξησης των εισοδημάτων, την πολιτική της μείωσης φόρων και ασφαλιστικών εισφορών, την πολιτική της συνέχισης των επενδύσεων που μας δίνει τη δυνατότητα να αναπτύξου
