Καλαφάτης εξήρε τη διαχρονική διαδρομή του θεσμού, ο οποίος συμπληρώνει τέσσερις δεκαετίες αδιάλειπτης παρουσίας, παραμένοντας το σταθερό σημείο συνάντησης της εγχώριας παραγωγής με τη διεθνή αγορά. Υπογράμμισε παράλληλα τον κομβικό ρόλο της Θεσσαλονίκης και της Μακεδονίας οι οποίες αντιπροσωπεύουν το 20% της συνολικής εθνικής παραγωγής κοσμήματος.
