Mali Commends Morocco’s Leadership in Establishing African Convention on Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration of Child Soldiers

Mali’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop, commended the leadership of the Kingdom of Morocco in establishing the African Convention on the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration of Child Soldiers. In a statement to the press following the ceremony marking the signing phase of this Convention, Wednesday in New York, Diop described this legal instrument, «developed and conceived by Africans, » as « important ». Mali, he said, was pleased to be "fully involved" in the Convention, emphasizing that the instrument provides an “appropriate framework” for the exchange of experience and best practices among the various countries of the continent.
