New York: FM Outlines Principles Championed by Morocco’s Presidency of United Nations (UN) Peacebuilding Commission

Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Mr. Nasser Bourita outlined, on Thursday in New York, the key principles advanced by Morocco during its 2026 presidency of the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission (PBC), at a high-level meeting of the Commission on "National ownership in practice: Strengthening inclusive state institutions." The meeting was attended by UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed, Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape, Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, African Development Bank Vice President Marie-Laure Akin-Olugbade, as well as several deputy prime ministers and ministers. In his address, Bourita called for strengthening national ownership of peacebuilding efforts through inclusive institutions and international partnerships aligned with countries' own priorities. He noted that, 20 years after its creation, the PBC is at an important stage in its evolution, particularly in light of the Pact for the Future and the 2025 review of the UN peacebuilding architecture.
