NMRTC Patuxent River and NAS Pax River ‘SAR Dogs’ Partner for Combat Casualty Readiness Exercise
Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Patuxent River executed the Annual Proficiency Expeditionary eXercise (APEX) at Naval Air Station Patuxent River. NMRTC Patuxent River partnered with Naval Air Station Patuxent River Search and Rescue (SAR Dogs) to test joint Tactical Combat Casualty Care and dynamic evacuation procedures. The exercise served as the culmination of dedicated preparation and consistent "Warrior Wednesdays" readiness training. The APEX challenged clinic personnel across four static skill stations and a dynamic trauma lane featuring multiple casualties and tactical aeromedical evacuations. Supported by base installation leadership, the evolution reinforced the command’s commitment to maintaining operational warfighter readiness alongside daily healthcare operations.
