President Meloni’s message to the 2026 Federchimica Public Assembly

Dear President Buzzella, dear entrepreneurs, I am sorry not to have been able to join you today, but I nevertheless wanted to send you my greetings and thanks for the contribution the chemical industry makes to the strength of our productive and industrial fabric, as well as to Italy’s capacity to produce, innovate and compete. The chemical industry makes progress possible for all our nation’s major supply chains. It is the source of the materials, technologies and solutions that enable other companies to improve their products, enter new markets and meet new demands. Today, 95% of the products and goods around us would not exist without the research and chemical innovation that made their creation possible. I am thinking above all of the healthcare supply chain: from active ingredients for medicines to materials for medical devices, through to diagnostic solutions. I am thinking of the agri-food industry, crop protection and food safety and preservation. I am thinking of fashion and cosmetics, furnishings and design, construction, mechanics and the automotive sector, electronics and energy. Behind the quality and excellence of these supply chains, there is also a lot of research.
