Marko Nurmikolu appointed Director of Legislative Affairs at Ministry of the Environment
The Director of Legislative Affairs is responsible for monitoring the Ministry’s legislative programme and for coordinating the drafting, development and implementation of legislation at the Ministry in cooperation with the Permanent Secretary and the Ministry’s departments and units. The Director of Legislative Affairs also works to develop the quality of law drafting at the Ministry and assists the Ministry’s management in evaluating the need for legislation. Marko Nurmikolu holds a Master of Laws degree. He has worked as a Senior Legal Counsel at the Association of Finnish Cities and Municipalities since 2012, carrying out advisory, training and development duties relating to environmental matters, land use and construction. Since 2021, he has also served as a team leader. Nurmikolu previously worked as a Judicial Secretary at the Supreme Administrative Court in 2016–2017, as a Lawyer at the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for North Karelia in 2011–2012 and as an Assistant Judge at the Vaasa Administrative Court in 2009–2011.
