HUD Delivers Disaster Aid, Financial Flexibility for Indiana Residents Impacted by Natural Disasters HUD Delivers Disaster Aid, Financial Flexibility for Indiana Residents Impacted by Natural Disasters September 1, 2026 WASHINGTON - Secretary Turner announced the availability of federal disaster assistance to the state of Indiana to supplement recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding that occurred on August 11, 2026. “HUD stands ready to help Americans in need following natural disasters,” said Secretary Turner. “Our team is helping the residents of Indiana impacted by providing financial flexibility and disaster recovery resources.” President Trump issued a major disaster declaration for the state of Indiana on August 25, 2026. Effective immediately, HUD is: Providing financial flexibility - A 90-day moratorium is issued on foreclosures of mortgages insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) as well as foreclosures of mortgages to Native American borrowers guaranteed under the Section 184 Indian Home Loan Guarantee program.
