Army Corps-Galveston hosts Orange Co Project public open house, seeks community input on Draft SEIS

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District hosted a public open house Oct. 20, 2026, in Bridge City, Texas, to present proposed modifications to the Sabine Pass to Galveston Bay Orange County Project and its Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS). Residents and stakeholders reviewed plans for levees, floodwalls, pump stations and drainage improvements designed to reduce coastal storm surge risks to communities and critical infrastructure. The meeting provided an opportunity to engage with project experts, discuss potential environmental impacts and provide feedback. Public comments on the Draft SEIS will be accepted through Oct. 26, 2026.
