Maj. Spingarn Heads to Naples (30 SEP 1943)
On Sept. 30, 1943, Maj. Stephen J. Spingarn and his 305th Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) Detachment prepared to enter Naples along the Italian coast. Throughout September, Spingarn and his agents had moved from a reactive unit supporting frontline troops to a strong counterintelligence presence for the Fifth Army.
