Governor Abbott Announces $87 Million In Rural Healthcare Grants Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) plans to award $87 million in Rural Texas Strong grants to 129 rural healthcare providers throughout the state. “Rural Texas communities deserve access to top-notch, reliable care,” said Governor Abbott. “This more than $87 million investment will help to recruit and retain the next generation of healthcare professionals, replace aging medical equipment, and strengthen facilities across Texas communities to improve patient outcomes.” “The Trump Administration’s Rural Health Transformation Program is equipping states with the resources they need to strengthen rural health care and help families get better care closer to home,” said CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz. “These investments will help Texas improve health outcomes, strengthen its rural health workforce, and give providers the tools and resources they need to deliver high-quality care.” “These awards will build on the work medical teams do every day to care for rural Texans,” said HHS Executive Commissioner Stephanie Muth. “With this support, rural communities can res
