Police-reported crime statistics in Canada, 2025
The Crime Severity Index (CSI), an established composite measure of the volume and severity of police-reported crime, decreased 5% from 2024 to 2025. This marked the second consecutive annual decrease, following an upward trend beginning in 2015. In 2025, both the violent CSI (-4%) and the non-violent CSI (-5%) decreased.
