Easy Elsie fornlämningsförklaras På myren Gejnutjiegge utanför Porjus ligger Easy Elsie, resterna av ett brittiskt bombflygplan från andra världskriget. Här har det legat sedan en dramatisk oktobernatt 1944. Nu beslutar Länsstyrelsen att fornlämningsförklara henne. Ett stycke Norrbottenshistoria Easy Elsie deltog i ett av de allierade styrkornas försök att slå ut det tyska flaggskeppet Tirpitz, som låg för ankar utanför Norges kust. Under anfallet träffades flygplanet av tysk beskjutning och tvingades nödlanda på en myr utanför Porjus. Lyckligtvis överlevde alla i besättningen. De togs om hand av hemvärnsmän från Porjus och kunde så småningom skickas tillbaka till Storbritannien. Drygt 80 år senare är lämningen fortfarande ganska välbevarad. Stora delar av flygplanet finns kvar på myren och vittnar om en dramatisk del av andra världskrigets historia, mitt i Norrbotten. —Easy Elsie påminner oss om hur nära Norrbotten andra världskriget faktiskt kom. Att flygplanet fortfarande ligger kvar på platsen där det nödlandade gör lämningen särskilt värdefull att bevara för framtiden.
