[Check against delivery] Mr. President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, Mr. Ambassador of the United States of America, Ladies and gentlemen, Distinguished guests, I am honored to participate in this celebration of the United States and its many friends, who are here in great numbers every year, as well as those who could not join us today. I am here to say, with great respect, that for 250 years, this great nation has exercised a profound influence on the world through the strength of its economy, its capacity for innovation, and the power of its armed forces. We need only think of the saving of Europe, the fall of communism. It is therefore fitting that we thank the United States for these 250 years and for the tremendous global impact it has had, including on Romania. I am also here to say that beyond these achievements, the most important aspects that have inspired us are the values we associate with the American flag when it appears on the horizon. Individual freedoms, democracy, and equal opportunity are extraordinary values that have inspired us in the past and continue to inspire us today. I am here to express our gratitude.
