Minsa adelanta a las 28 semanas de embarazo la vacunación contra el VSR ante aumento de casos de tosferina y virus respiratorios

Ante el aumento de casos de Virus Sincitial Respiratorio (VSR) y tosferina, particularmente en niños menores de un año, el Ministerio de Salud (Minsa) adelanta a las 28 semanas de gestación la vacunación contra el VSR en embarazadas, con el objetivo de fortalecer la protección de los bebés antes de su nacimiento. La decisión fue adoptada por la Comisión Nacional Asesora de Prácticas de Inmunización, explicó Itzel Slocum de Hewit, quien señaló que la medida responde al comportamiento actual de ambas enfermedades y al riesgo que representan para los niños pequeños. Esta estrategia permitirá aprovechar la vacunación durante el embarazo para administrar también la vacuna Tdap, que protege contra la difteria, el tétanos y la tosferina.
