Da oggi un unico valore permette di avere una risposta immediata. Analizzando fattori geologici, climatici e attività umane, l'Urban Geo-climate Footprint (UGF) misura il livello di interazione tra il contesto geologico-climatico e il tessuto urbano. Messo a punto da ISPRA, nell’ambito di un’attività di ricerca condotta in collaborazione con la rete europea dei servizi geologici EuroGeoSurveys, il nuovo metodo sintetizza le informazioni disponibili nelle banche dati pubbliche e attribuisce un punteggio compreso tra 0 e 500 per esprimere il potenziale impatto dei fenomeni geologici e climatici sull'area urbana. Più il contesto geologico e climatico condiziona lo sviluppo e il funzionamento della città, più alto è il punteggio. Con questo metodo ISPRA ha già analizzato diverse città europee e tutti i capoluoghi di regione/provincia autonoma italiani.
