Tax Exemption (Wang Fuk Court) Order gazetted

The Chief Executive in Council has made the Tax Exemption (Wang Fuk Court) Order (the Order) pursuant to the Inland Revenue Ordinance (Cap. 112), and the Order is gazetted today (October 9). The Order waives the property owners and residents of Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, as well as persons who died in the fire at Wang Fuk Court, from the balance of tax payable for the year of assessment (YA) 2024/25 and the tax payable for the YA 2025/26 (including provisional tax and final tax). The Order covers tax types including salaries tax, property tax, profits tax, and tax under personal assessment. The Government announced the above tax waivers in December last year and this May in order to ease the financial burden on people affected by the fire. The Order will be tabled at the Legislative Council on October 14 for negative vetting.
