Hongkong Post to issue "24 Solar Terms - Winter" special stamps (with photos)

​Hongkong Post announced today (October 21) that a set of special stamps and associated philatelic products on the theme of "24 Solar Terms - Winter" will be released for sale on November 5 (Thursday). The 24 Solar Terms collectively refer to a knowledge system of time and social practices progressively developed by Chinese people through observation of the sun's periodic motion, changes of seasons and phenological cycles. This system was inscribed onto the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in 2016. Subsequent to the "24 Solar Terms - Spring", "24 Solar Terms - Summer" and "24 Solar Terms - Autumn" special stamps issued in 2020, 2023 and 2025 respectively, Hongkong Post will issue a set of six stamps on the theme of "24 Solar Terms - Winter" as a continuation of the series. Rendered in soft colours, the stamps feature the scenes of six solar terms of winter, namely "Winter Commences", "Light Snow", "Heavy Snow", "Winter Solstice", "Moderate Cold" and "Severe Cold", bringing the entire collection to a perfect conclusion.
