Brussels ETO brings Hong Kong's cinematic memories back to life at Spain Moving Images Festival (with photos)

The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels (Brussels ETO) joins hands with the Film Development Fund and the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) to support the screening of Hong Kong films at the ninth Spain Moving Images Festival (SMIFest), which is currently taking place in Madrid, Spain, from September 3 to October 18 (Madrid time). SMIFest features a special programme on Hong Kong's "Neon Years", showcasing 10 classic Hong Kong films from 1980 to 1999. The selected films are "A Better Tomorrow", "Boat People", "City on Fire", "Comrades: Almost a Love Story", "Fallen Angels", "Made in Hong Kong", "My Heart is That Eternal Rose", "The Killer", "Throw Down" and "Twin Dragons". The Brussels ETO hosted a networking reception on October 7 (Madrid time), which brought together members of the international film and cultural communities. Speaking at the reception, Assistant Representative of the Brussels ETO Mr Paul Leung praised the remarkable achievements of Hong Kong cinema in the 1980s and 1990s, as well as its lasting legacy and influence on the global film landscape.
