ECAD: President Meloni’s opening address at the High-Level International Meeting on Addiction Prevention and Recovery at San Patrignano

Authorities, delegates, dear friends, Welcome to Italy and welcome to San Patrignano! Thank you to our hosts. Thank you to Letizia Moratti, Vittoria Pinelli and Carlo Clavarino. Above all, thank you to all the young men and women of this Community; thank you because, over the last months, you have been even more extraordinary than usual, ensuring such hospitality and helpfulness throughout all phases of this event’s organisation. I of course wish to greet all the authorities present here today. I can see several Ministers, Government Undersecretaries, President [of the Emilia-Romagna Region] de Pascale, the Mayor and the President of the Province. My greetings obviously also go to all of you, and I thank you for being here. I especially wish to greet and thank the many delegations who have come here today and accepted our invitation. When Undersecretary of State Mantovano – whom I must also greet and above all thank for the extraordinary work he is doing on fighting drugs – and I asked ourselves where could be the best venue in Italy to host the first of a series of meetings that the European Coalition Against Drugs plans on holding, this is the place that naturally came to mind.
