Reminder: Exchange old Saskatoon Transit smart cards by August 31 For immediate release: August 21, 2026 - 1:00 pm TC26-12280 Effective September 1, Saskatoon Transit will no longer accept old smart cards as valid fare passes. The farebox scanners are being replaced with a cash-only farebox top. New reloadable smart cards and mobile tickets will continue to use the validator near the bus entrance. Customers with old cards are encouraged to exchange them by August 31 to maintain access to their balances. Existing balances and active entitlements can be transferred to a new smart card at the Transit Customer Service Centre. New cards can be purchased or reloaded at the Customer Service Centre or at participating vendors. Don’t wait, exchange your old card today. Learn more at saskatoontransit.ca/fares .
