The City of Calgary launches Beyond the Badge program for Grade 9 students

The City of Calgary is launching Beyond the Badge, a new educational program that brings Community Peace Officers into Grade 9 classrooms to help students explore citizenship, community safety and career opportunities in public service. The free program combines curriculum-connected lessons with real-world learning experiences designed to build confidence, teamwork and civic responsibility. Through interactive lessons in Social Studies, English and Health, students will engage in discussions and activities that connect classroom learning to real community issues. The program helps students better understand the role Community Peace Officers play in supporting safe communities while encouraging students to consider how they can contribute positively to the city around them. Teachers participating in the program receive a ready-to-use manual developed by certified educators and Community Peace Officers.
