Man charged following 2025 fatal collision
We have charged one person following a fatal collision that occurred in the city’s northeast last year. On Monday, July 21, 2025, a man was driving a pick-up truck south in the northbound lanes of 52 Street N.E., when he struck a female pedestrian in her 50s. The pedestrian died at the scene. The truck continued travelling south, colliding with an oncoming SUV, before coming to a stop and bursting into flames. The driver of that SUV, a 33-year-old woman, and the passenger, a 35-year-old man, were both taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the truck was taken to hospital with serious injuries. On Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026, following a lengthy investigation by the CPS Traffic Section, Rami HAMDAN, 26, of Calgary was arrested and charged with one count of criminal dangerous driving causing death and two counts of criminal dangerous driving causing bodily harm. HAMDAN is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026. Anyone who may have information related to this incident is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.
