Police investigate fatal pedestrian collision

We continue to investigate a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred this morning in the community of Martindale. On Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, at approximately 5:40 a.m., a westbound driver attempted to turn into a parking lot at 135 Martindale Blvd. N.E. A pedestrian was laying on the sidewalk in front of the parking lot entrance and the driver passed over him. Upon realizing the gate to the parking lot was closed, the driver reversed his vehicle, passing over the pedestrian a second time, before accessing the parking lot from a different entrance and parking. At that point, the driver, a man his 50s, learned of the pedestrian from bystanders. The victim was taken to the hospital but died of his injuries a short time later. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage is asked to contact us by calling 403-266-1234.
