Doorstop interview - The Beacon, Salvation Army Housing Eddy Midgley Sat, 22/08/2026 - 08:14 TRISH COOK MP, MEMBER FOR BULLWINKEL: Good morning, everyone. Thank you for coming. I am very pleased to be here at Salvation Army with Warren and Kate, and with my colleague Patrick Gorman. As you know, as federal member for Bullwinkel, I am a nurse that has been aware of the family violence, and the scourge on our community that the family violence can cause. And I have seen what happens to people's health when they are stuck between a crisis and living a normal life in community. I am particularly glad that the Albanese Labor Government is recognising this as we have and funding towards it. I am particularly thrilled that some of that funding is going to go to the northeast of Perth, where it is needed, especially for women and children escaping domestic violence, or for people in crisis. It is an important topic. It is important that we have the whole of community working on this, because - when people are at their most vulnerable - that is the sign of a great community.
