Doorstop interview - Parliament House Suzana Cameron Mon, 26/10/2026 - 11:01 PATRICK GORMAN, ASSISTANT MINISTER TO THE PRIME MINISTER: We have returned to a very different Parliament. I think everyone who comes into this building today will be thinking of our colleague Helen Haines. When I was a new MP, our offices were next to each other. I know how hard she has worked for the community of Indi. She brought a little bit of Indi here to the Parliament of Australia with her volunteers - and just the incredible work that she has done in this Parliament and will continue to do. I believe that her biggest contributions to this Parliament are not behind her, but ahead of her. And I encourage every Australian, if they can, if they have the capacity, to consider supporting the Save the Children fund in her name. And I also want to recognise that we've seen something that has shocked the nation, but also, it's an opportunity where people can celebrate the good. We see a lot of commentary about people telling politicians when we get it wrong.
