The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission Welcomes Resumption of Diplomatic Ties Between Rwanda and Belgium

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf welcomed the decision by the Republic of Rwanda and the Kingdom of Belgium to resume diplomatic relations. “The resumption of diplomatic ties underscores the importance of sustained dialogue, constructive engagement and open diplomatic channels in addressing differences and advancing shared interests,” the Chairperson said. The Chairperson commends Belgium and Rwanda for this important step and acknowledges the constructive role played by the State of Qatar in facilitating dialogue between the two countries. “This development demonstrates the value of diplomacy and dialogue in overcoming differences and strengthening cooperation,” the Chairperson added.
