Mahama discusses Ghana’s economy with International Finance Corporation (IFC) boss

President John Dramani Mahama received the Managing Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Makhtar Diop, at the Presidency on Wednesday to discuss ways to strengthen Ghana’s economy through strategic partnerships. The discussions focused on scaling up commercial agriculture in key sub-sectors such as cocoa, oil palm, and poultry. They also covered fulfilling the government’s policy to process at least 50% of Ghana’s cocoa beans, other farm produce, and minerals locally. Additionally, they addressed expanding the transport network, including railways, aviation, and roads, and advancing digital connectivity through the Big Push Infrastructure Development. They also discussed critical challenges in the energy and education sectors. President Mahama, joined by the Chief of Staff and the Ministers for Finance, Energy, and Trade, highlighted the positive economic turnaround achieved through prudent management and strict fiscal discipline. This has led to a sharp drop in inflation, reduced national indebtedness, and restored investor confidence.
