Kenya and Helen Keller International Strengthen Nutrition Partnership

Cabinet Secretary for Health Hon. Aden Duale held a consultative meeting with a Helen Keller International delegation led by Vice President of Programs and Partnerships Shawn Baker to discuss stronger and more sustainable collaboration in nutrition, particularly for women, children and underserved communities. Helen Keller International has supported Kenya’s nutrition agenda by reaching 3.5 million people with Vitamin A supplementation and providing deworming interventions to 2.5 million children across seven counties. The organisation is also promoting sustainable food systems by supporting communities to grow nutrient-rich foods and establish grassroots agribusinesses through pilot programmes in Tharaka Nithi, Kilifi and Baringo counties. Hon. Duale commended the organisation’s contribution and called for partner-supported programmes to be integrated more closely into Government systems under the principles of One Plan, One Budget and One Accountability. This approach will improve coordination, reduce duplication and ensure that investments align with national and county priorities.
