Washington, multistate coalition seek approval for $400 million settlement in drug price-fixing case FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Oct 6 2026 atgAshleyGross Tue, 10/06/2026 - 09:46 Attorney General Nick Brown has joined a bipartisan coalition of 43 states and territories seeking court approval of a $400 million settlement to resolve allegations that two generic drug manufacturers engaged in long-running conspiracies to artificially inflate and manipulate prices and reduce competition. The coalition of states and territories filed a motion for preliminary approval of the settlement with Sandoz Inc. and Fougera Pharmaceuticals Inc. on Oct. 1 in U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut in Hartford. “Conspiring to charge Washington consumers more for the medicines they need is illegal and cruel,” Brown said. “Elected officials must work together to hold drug companies accountable and support consumers.” The settlement will also resolve allegations that Sandoz Inc.’s past and present international affiliates—Novartis AG, Sandoz AG, and Sandoz Group AG—participated in the alleged anticompetitive conduct and fraudulently transferred assets to avoid liability.
