(OCTOBER 8, 2026) - - Tampa Police are investigating a traffic crash that fatally injured an elderly pedestrian on Wednesday evening, October 7, 2026. Just before 8:30 pm, Tampa Police Officers responded to report of a crash on N. Nebraska Ave near E. Lambright St. During heavy rain, a man in his early 70s traveling in a wheelchair was crossing the roadway when he was struck by a northbound 2011 silver Hyundai Sonata in the inside lane. The driver, an adult female in her mid-20s, did not see the man in time to avoid the collision. The impact ejected the man from his wheelchair, leaving him critically wounded. Life-saving measures were provided at the scene, and he was transported to a local hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries. During the incident, the man's wheelchair was displaced into the southbound lanes, where it was subsequently struck by a 2021 dark-colored Hyundai Sonata.
