Attorney General Bonta Conditionally Approves Sale of St. Elizabeth Care Center in North Hollywood, Requiring Protections for Residents and Continued Access to Care
October 2, 2026 Contact: (916) 210-6000, agpressoffice@doj.ca.gov OAKLAND — California Attorney General Rob Bonta today conditionally approved the sale of St. Elizabeth Care Center (St. Elizabeth), a 52-bed nonprofit skilled nursing facility in North Hollywood. The facility will be transferred from Providence Health System – Southern California to affiliates of The Ensign Group, Inc. (Ensign), a publicly traded, for-profit healthcare company. St. Elizabeth has served the community since 1964 and provides care to elderly residents, with Medi-Cal and Medicare beneficiaries accounting for a significant share of its residents. The approval includes conditions designed to protect current residents and help ensure continued access to care.
