Health Reports, August 2026
Environmental exposures such as air pollution, extreme heat and cold, and limited green space are known to affect health. When people move residences, their risk of exposure changes. Few national datasets have captured both exposures to multiple environments and residential mobility. The article entitled "Residential mobility and multi-domain environmental exposures in Canada: Development of the Residential Mobility Exposome File" introduces the Residential Mobility Exposome File (ReMEF) to fill this gap. The ReMEF linked residential historical postal codes to annual measures across three domains (ambient air pollution, built and green environment, and ambient temperature) using the Canadian Census Health and Environment Cohort for 1991, 1996 and 2001, with up to 25 years of follow-up.
