FOUR PAWS Calls for One Health Collaboration to End Rabies in South Africa
Cape Town, 23 September 2026 – Ahead of World Rabies Day on 28 September, global animal welfare organisation FOUR PAWS is urging South Africans to embrace a One Health approach to help eliminate rabies, a deadly but entirely preventable disease that continues to threaten both human and animal lives.This year's World Rabies Day theme, “Stronger Together", highlights the importance of collaboration between communities, veterinarians, healthcare professionals, government and animal welfare organisations to achieve the global goal of Zero Human Dog-Mediated Rabies Deaths by 2030.
