LCQ21: Promoting alignment of Chinese medicine industry with national and international standards
Following is a question by the Hon Stanley Ng and a written reply by the Secretary for Health, Professor Lo Chung-mau, in the Legislative Council today (October 7): Question: The Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) expressly supports Hong Kong in leveraging the strengths of its Chinese Medicines Testing Institute. With the official release of the first batch of GBA Chinese medicines standards (GBA Standards) at the end of October 2024, coupled with the successive commissioning of the Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong and the Government Chinese Medicines Testing Institute (GCMTI), the development of Chinese medicine (CM) in Hong Kong is entering a critical transformation period of standardisation, professionalisation and internationalisation.
