Members of the media are advised to apply for accreditation to cover the 40th Anniversary Commemorations of the Mbuzini Tragedy in Mpumalanga. The year 2026 marks 40 years since the tragic plane crash on 19 October 1986, which claimed the lives of Mozambican President Samora Moises Machel and 34 other Mozambican nationals, including members of the aircraft crew and journalists. The Commemorations will take place on Monday, 19 October at the Samora Machel Monument and Museum, Mbuzini, Nkomazi local Municipality under the theme, “Commemorating Lifelong Dedication to the People of Southern Africa: Honouring All Victims of the Mbuzini Tragedy”.
