Medics Rising to Lead Army Care
On Oct. 2, 2026, former enlisted combat medics 1LT Andrew Hoffman and 1LT Goeun Crabtree graduated from the Interservice Physician Assistant Program (IPAP) at Irwin Army Community Hospital, earning their commissions and Master of Physician Assistant Studies degrees. Drawing from their extensive enlisted experience, both officers completed a rigorous 13-month Phase II clinical rotation at IACH, which prepared them to operate independently in environments where physicians may not be immediately available. As newly minted Army physician assistants, they are now equipped to go beyond standard clinical care, acting as liaisons who advise commanders on medical readiness, mentor junior combat medics, and ensure their units remain medically prepared to train, deploy, and fight.
