Under pressure: 72nd Medical Group prepares medics for battlefield emergencies
Gunfire echoes across the battlefield. The unmistakable buzz of enemy drones fills the air overhead. Wounded service members lie scattered across the ground, some crying out for help while others remain motionless. Medical supplies are limited, evacuation is uncertain, and the threat of another attack looms. For the medics responding to the scene, there is little time to hesitate. Every decision matters, and every second could mean the difference between life and death. But when that moment comes, the 72nd Medical Group wants its medics prepared to act rather than react. That preparation took another step forward Oct. 9, 2026, as the 72nd Medical Group concluded its first Tier 3 Tactical Combat Casualty Care course at Tinker Air Force Base with a high-pressure mass casualty exercise designed to test participants' ability to assess injuries, prioritize treatment and make lifesaving decisions under stress.
