Guardsmen Push Through the Exhaustion in the 2027 Best Warrior Competition
The 2027 Utah Best Warrior Competition brought together 21 Utah Army and Air National Guardsmen at Camp Williams Oct. 19-21, 2026, for three days of challenges testing physical endurance, tactical proficiency and mental resilience. Competitors tackled seven events, including physical fitness assessments, tactical medical scenarios, marksmanship, land navigation and a demanding ruck march. Beyond individual performance, the competition emphasized preparation, adaptability, professional development and camaraderie across units and branches. Spc. Carson Lovejoy was named Soldier of the Year, Staff Sgt. Jayden Leavitt earned Noncommissioned Officer of the Year, and Sgt. 1st Class Daniel Brennan was named Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year. Lovejoy and Leavitt will represent the Utah National Guard at the regional competition in 2027, carrying forward lessons in leadership, teamwork and continuous improvement.
