Governor Abbott Announces Applications Open For $31 Million In Fund For Veterans’ Assistance Grants Governor Greg Abbott today announced that applications are open for an estimated $31 million in Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) grants, administered by the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC). Nonprofit organizations and local government agencies that provide direct services to veterans may apply. “Texas stands with the men and women who wore the uniform,” said Governor Abbott. “These grants put $31 million in the hands of local organizations that deliver housing, mental health care, job training, and other direct services to veterans and their families. Texas will always honor those who answered the call.” The application portal opened at 5 p.m. Central time on October 2, 2026, and closes at 5 p.m. Central time on December 2, 2026. The announcement follows TVC’s 2026 Grants Across Texas tour.
