Two employers sanctioned for violating requirements under Enhanced Supplementary Labour Scheme

The Labour Department (LD) today (October 12) announced the imposition of an administrative sanction on Shengshi Investment Management Co, Limited and Ho Fu Kee Noodles (Tsuen Wan) Limited. With immediate effect, the LD has terminated the processing of the applications for importing labour previously submitted by the above companies under the Enhanced Supplementary Labour Scheme (ESLS). In parallel, the LD will, from today, refuse to process any applications submitted by the above companies under the ESLS for a period of two years. Upon investigation, the LD established that the above companies had breached the following requirements under the ESLS while seeking to import dish washers: (1) Shengshi Investment Management Co, Limited imposed additional recruitment terms without the LD's approval; provided false local recruitment results to the LD, and failed to employ a qualified job seeker without reasonable excuse; and (2) Ho Fu Kee Noodles (Tsuen Wan) Limited failed to employ a qualified job seeker without reasonable excuse.
