The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Mr Christopher Hui, commenced his visit to Beijing today (November 3) and attended the Beijing Hong Kong Financial Cooperation thematic event of the 29th Beijing Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium to promote Hong Kong's financial opportunities and unique advantages to the Mainland authorities and business and financial sectors. This year's thematic event featured "Joining Hands in Finance: Beijing and Hong Kong Moving Forward Together". Mr Hui said in his speech that Hong Kong, as a leading international financial centre, has been playing the unique role of a "super connector" and "super value-adder" while our country is pressing ahead with the core mission of becoming a financial powerhouse. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government is actively driving the "Finance+" strategy, deeply integrating financial strength with areas such as technology, green development and industries. This aims to fully implement the "five major financial articles", namely fintech, green finance, inclusive finance, pension finance, and digital finance, with a view to propelling the real economy with finance.
