President Meloni’s introduction at the press conference following Council of Ministers meeting no. 195
Good afternoon, everyone, and thank you for being here. I can see there is a high turn-out for a big occasion. The Council of Ministers just approved the 2027 budget law. This is this Government’s fifth budget law and is worth a total of approximately EUR 26 billion. Before going into the details of the main measures, I would first like to say that the guiding philosophy of this budget law is once again to focus the resources available (which aren’t many) on the same priorities we have been pursuing over the last four years: families, the birth rate, cutting taxes, protecting purchasing power, employment incentives, business incentives and citizens’ health. This budget law should therefore not be seen as a standalone measure, but rather as a further building block of a medium-long term strategy that follows the logic of a full term – so, a multi-year path. This strategy is clearly in line with the programme we presented to the Italian people. I must say that I am very satisfied with the consistency, unity and steadfastness we have shown throughout this journey. Once again, we have not distributed resources indiscriminately and have not made any promises we cannot keep. I must thank
